School Director in Togo cites poverty as key obstacle
Recently, the director of a school in Tchankounkonkong, Togo, spoke to us about how sponsorship donations from Nukoko’s Education 4 All project increased the number of girls enrolled in his school.
He said, “Last year we received a project that came to sponsor young girls. In Togo today we really want young girls to be educated, but given the state of parents they are unable to send their young girls to school due to poverty, and certainly they do not yet understand the importance of school, and how men and women can do the same work, and having the donations this year really helps the parents, especially with colleges and supplies, and so we received many more girls.
So it goes that if we could continue for another five years, five or six years, we will have been very successful, so we are asking out of the generosity of others, in order to emphasize the situation since it can help develop this environment.”
